You Already Won!

You Already Won!

Our lessons, angels and miracles are disguised among the people we meet and know.

My neighbor Ms. G. has said a few things over the last 20-years that I cherish. She has said things that have helped ground me and given me hope when my world did not feel right.

For an hour we stood in her driveway swatting bugs and mosquitoes that constantly landed on our faces, arms and legs. She shared stories about her journey and how it always has a way of coming full circle. She also told me at points in life we can’t always clearly see that we are doing all the right things and that life has a way of working out for the best if we allow it to be.

I heard her talking, but kind of woke up a little more when she said, “You already won!” She said it multiple times. I heard her again and again, but I had to tell my story too. In a particular area in my life I’ve done everything in my power, but I am still struggling on how to get from point A to point B while keeping what’s important first and close. There has got to be another way. She said, “When I am gone remember you already won!”

I won? Lately, I have moments when I feel like I’m losing.

Hours later on the same day, while sitting in my writing chair, I realize that it’s easy to get lost in my everyday. Re-adjusting after completing graduate school, being a Mom, wife, being present for family, maintaining a household, coaching, teaching, COVID, the news, politics, what organizations are not doing to help people, groups who fail to tell the truth or simply do right. I can make that list longer, but I think you get it.

My neighbor reminded me. I had forgotten. I had to re-member the simple things again. Life, love, family; friends and neighbors that are part of my family.

We win, when we have the awareness to understand our truth and at the very core of it all what’s valuable and most important.

Good neighbors are rare.

I win because I heard her message and used it to change my energy into positive energy then shared the story with others.

Have you won? Tell me how.
