Years ago someone asked me what does it mean to be a parent. Without thinking I said to learn. But really, what is parenting? So many things and more….
Parenting is loving someone more than yourself
Parenting is giving tough love in order for one to grow
Parenting is staying up late with the throw up bucket
Parenting is worrying all night that they are making the right decision
Parenting is spoiling them when they need to be spoiled
Parenting is setting boundaries when they need to be drawn
Parenting is being a parent and not a friend
Parenting is sacrificing for the benefit of another
Parenting is giving them all you thought you never had but did
Parenting is knowing when to step back and give them space to grow
Parenting is giving them a safe place to be who they are meant to be
Parenting is hard and wonderful at the same time
Parenting is watching yourself in them
Parenting is holding your tongue and not saying I told you so when they make mistakes
Parenting is recognizing that fine line of when to let go and when to hold on
Parenting is watching them grow into brilliant adults
Parenting is finding joy in the experiences of another human being
Parenting is listening and letting them show you how it’s done
Parenting is saying I love you, I hear you, you are important and you matter to me
Parenting is saying you are beautiful or handsome and I am so proud of you
Parenting is saying it’s okay to feel how you feel
Parenting is a blessing
Parenting is giving and receiving unconditional love
